Stepping into Childhood Memories and Experiencing the Charm of Japanese Anime Culture — Wayo Japanese Language School Organizes a Visit to the Doraemon Museum

To enrich students’ study-abroad experience, on July 25, 2025, Wayo Japanese Language School organized a visit to the Fujiko·F·Fujio Museum in Noborito, Kawasaki, commonly known as the Doraemon Museum. As one of the school’s signature cultural experience programs, the event received enthusiastic anticipation and participation from students.

Fujiko·F·Fujio, the creator of timeless masterpieces such as Doraemon, Perman, and Kiteretsu Encyclopedia, is a legendary manga artist admired not only in Japan but around the world. Doraemon, cherished across generations, conveys themes of “dreams, friendship, and courage,” which have deeply touched countless readers over the decades.

Located just about 20 minutes by train from the school, the Doraemon Museum is a popular local landmark and photo spot near Wayo Japanese Language School. The museum houses an extensive collection of Fujiko-sensei’s original manuscripts, drawing tools, and valuable materials. Immersed in the exhibits, students were able to gain insight into the craftsmanship and creative spirit behind Japanese anime production.

In addition to the exhibits, the museum features life-size recreations of Doraemon scenes for photo opportunities, a themed gift shop with exclusive merchandise, and a theater screening short animations. Students not only learned about anime culture but also created lasting memories of their study-abroad life.

To encourage active participation, the school fully covered the admission fee (1,000 yen) for all students. On the day of the visit, they were accompanied by teachers to ensure a safe and well-organized trip. The event was documented in photos, and students were encouraged to share their impressions and pictures on social media to spread this unique learning experience.

Wayo Japanese Language School is committed to providing comprehensive support for international students, focusing on the integration of “academics, daily life, and culture.” Beyond Japanese language education, the school emphasizes extracurricular activities and real-world engagement, regularly organizing cultural tours, company visits, and exchange programs to help students adapt to life in Japan, broaden their horizons, and enhance their language and communication skills.

This visit to the Doraemon Museum was not only an enjoyable journey into anime culture but also a “living lesson” on Japanese society and culture. Through such immersive experiences, students can deepen their understanding of Japan, spark further interest in language learning, and gain inspiration for their future paths.

Moving forward, Wayo Japanese Language School will continue to design and offer engaging, educational activities that align with students’ interests, helping each of them grow, create meaningful experiences, and achieve their dreams during their study-abroad journey.
