From travel to study: short-term study abroad and acceptance to Ochanomizu Women’s Graduate School!

I am Huang Yueqi and I am from Kelamayi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. I did my undergraduate studies in psychology at Hubei University. I came to Japan on 2 September this year and am studying at the Wayo Japanese Language School. And today I found out that I have successfully passed the Ochanomizu University Graduate School entrance examination.

My main reason for coming to Japan was to take the postgraduate entrance examination, for which I obtained a short-term visa through my former university. This visa is useful as it allows me to complete most of the examinations for the school within three months. At the same time, I also wanted to experience life in Japan. Although I have visited Japan on a trip before, I feel that travelling and living in Japan are very different.

Life at the Wayo Japanese Language School lasts for about 10 days, but the teachers are very kind, especially my homeroom teacher, who gave me a big hug before the exam, saying that I had a magical power. Then I was really able to pass the exam.

I have been to Japan twice before on holiday, but there are some different sensations when I actually live here. For example, the sorting of rubbish in Japan is very strict, but thanks to what I had learnt beforehand, I gradually got used to it by actually doing it and following the rules. Also, the traffic in Tokyo is a bit complicated, but I gradually got used to it by commuting to work every day.

As for food, Japanese food is easy on the stomach and relatively light, which is good for people with weak stomachs. There are many fashionable shops near the school, including a hotpot restaurant. I am planning to take a leisurely stroll after the exam.

From now on, I will prepare for another school exam. As I have already passed one school, I intend to be more calm for the next written exam and interview. My goal is to be on track for admission next April.

Finally, if you are coming to Japan for postgraduate study, I strongly recommend the Wayo Japanese Language School. It is a very convenient place to study and live, and the dormitories recommended by the school are a good option for students who have no experience of living in Japan. Breakfast and dinner are provided in the dormitories and the caretaker will give you detailed instructions on how to live here.
