Wayo Japanese Language School Autumn OutingGunma and Tochigi Prefectures

This year Wayo Japanese Language School chose Gunma and Tochigi Prefectures for their autumn trip!
On the day of the trip, the Weibo group provided a wake-up call starting at 6:00 a.m. and departed from Shinjuku Station at 7:30 a.m. sharp.
The first stop on the tour was Ikaho Onsen in Gunma Prefecture, which is famous for its unique “stone steps”. The 360 stone steps are flanked by hot spring inns, restaurants and gift shops, creating a beautiful scene.
Lunch time came quickly and a delicious crab buffet was arranged for lunch on this trip. The flavours were delicious and the dining environment was very elegant. Next, we visited a soya bean skin making factory, where we not only learnt about the process of making soya bean skins, but also tasted fresh soya bean skins right out of the pot.
Finally, we ended this wonderful trip at the Ashikaga Flower Park in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture. This park is famous for its illuminated wisteria flowers and the “Garden of Light”, which is one of Japan’s top three coloured lanterns. The light show at night creates a fantasy-like atmosphere that is mesmerising. In the Flower Garden, which blooms in all seasons, the “Miracle Vine”, which is more than 150 years old in spring, was selected by CNN as one of “10 Dream Travel Destinations in the World”, just like the “Soul Wood” in the film “Avatar” directed by James Cameron. It has been selected by CNN as one of the “10 Dream Travel Destinations of the World”.

We look forward to participating in more extracurricular activities and making memories with you next year.
