Passed Waseda University! Came to Japan from the comfort zone at the age of 30-Yang!

In the eyes of many people, 30 years old should have a stable job, a family of three, it is the time to establish a career, but our choice is deviant. I have a deep impression that when I was about to come to Japan to study, my uncle said to me “Aren’t you too ungrateful, haven’t you ever thought about your mom and dad?” That’s right, I quit a decent job and gave up my stable life in China to find my so-called “ideal life” in Japan. I regretted it when I was preparing for exams, when I couldn’t communicate well with others, and even when I was alone at night. When I was preparing for an exam, when I couldn’t communicate well with others, and even when I was alone at night, I kept asking myself if I had made the right choice.

In the past two years, I’ve been studying at a Japanese language school, and I’ve gone from pointing fingers to gradually being able to talk to my teachers. I have gone from having to ask for help with all the formalities to being able to take care of various certificates and procedures on my own. This transformation also made me feel that the world is a big place, so why do we have to live in a small place and not experience various kinds of life and possibilities. On balance, I think it’s “worth it”. Maybe in two years I won’t have the courage to leave my comfort zone and never want to leave my hometown again.

Before I came to Japan, I had no contact with the Japanese language (formal study), but with the help of the teachers at the Japanese language school, I went from the beginner’s class, to the intermediate class, and then to the advanced class. Step by step, I went to my ideal school, Waseda University. In the middle of this, besides my own efforts, I am really thankful to my class teacher, Ms. Ozawa ~ Before the exam, she helped me to simulate interviews offline and online for 3 times, and she helped me to revise my plan, resume, and interview script word by word. Maybe it’s because I used to be a teacher too, I understand that it’s beyond the scope of my profession, and she was willing to help me. Thank you very much.

The importance of a language school cannot be overstated, and what makes me feel happy is the location of the school, which is in Shimokitazawa, a hipster area. I chose to live here because it is easy to get around, and I have everything I need to eat and drink! The most fortunate thing is that my Japanese landlord, my grandfather, is so hospitable and considerate that he sends me a small gift for every holiday, and carefully puts a greeting card with “China-Japan Friendship” written in Chinese in the middle of it. He greeted me with a big smile every day.

Don’t be anxious, don’t be afraid, just take the first step, and there will be a story.
